40 Years for UVS Pty Ltd

40 Years for UVS Pty Ltd

This year, one of Australia’s largest suppliers of subsea products and services is celebrating forty years of service to the subsea industry.

Founded in 1973, UVS Pty Ltd supplied the first remote operated vehicles (ROV) to the oil and gas industry operating in the harsh conditions of Bass Strait. Through the 1980s, the company’s innovations continued with the introduction of Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) technology to Australia.

Today, there are more than 400 ADCP units being used for ocean studies in waters stretching from Australia’s tropical north to the Southern Ocean.

UVS represents the Wave Glider in Australia for California-based Liquid Robotics and has completed an extensive number of trials and training for the Royal Australia Navy (RAN) at Jervis Bay using the Navy fleet of six Wave Gliders.

The Wave Glider can independently collect and transmit data for extremely long duration missions by using wave energy for propulsion and solar power for its data transmission and guidance systems.

Neil Trenaman, UVS’ Chief Operations Officer said the company is keen to add innovative products to the UVS portfolio and attended Ocean Business 2013.

“The UVS history of introduction of game-changing products is unmatched in Australia”, said Neil, “with our national footprint (offices in Newcastle, Melbourne and Perth), and activity in all market areas, UVS is the representative of choice in Australia for many global suppliers”.

Companies interested in discussing representation in Australia should contact Neil via the UVS website UVS Contact.
