UVS is pleased to announce that the Fugro Marinestar Differential Global Navigation Satellite System (DGNSS) and related positioning signal services can now be offered for use in hydrographic survey, defence, marine research and dredging applications.

Fugro Satellite Positioning provides a highly reliable DGNSS correction signal for both the US Global Positioning System (GPS) and the Russian Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) for navigation an positioning worldwide. DGNSS corrections are broadcast on dedicated communication channels in all four INMARSAT ocean regions and in addition on high power satellite SPOT beams including EMEA (ESat) and Indian Ocean region (IOR-H).

UVS General Manager Hydrographic/Oceanographic, Mark Hegarty, said that the inclusion of Marinestar in the UVS product offering enabled UVS to provide a positioning solution which complemented the hydrographic survey products offered by UVS. “For recent demonstrations conducted at Southport in Queensland we used the 9205 GNSS receiver with correction signals provided by Fugro”, said Mark, “The single GA810 DGNSS antenna incorporates GPS, GLONASS and Galileo reception and tracks the Fugro L-Band satellite broadcast of DGNSS corrections was rapidly set up on a vessel of opportunity. This makes it an ideal complement to the Teledyne Odom MB1 Multi Beam Echo Sounder which is also designed for quick & easy setup using the Real Time Appliance (RTA).”
