The Teledyne OceanScience Z-Boat was demonstrated to a gathering of interested delegates at the International Coastal Symposium in March 2016 in Sydney.

Dangerous surf conditions prevented the launch of the Z-Boat in Coogee Bay, however, the hotel was pleased to offer the use of their pool for the lunchtime demonstration. Although restricted by the small demonstration area available, the power, versatility and manoeuvrability of the Z-Boat were easy to see.

The versatile payload capability ranging from Single Beam Echo Sounders through to Multi Beam Echo Sounders (Teledyne Odom MB1 & MB2) and Side Scan Sonars was of interest to the coastal science delegates.  Many could see other applications for deploying sensors of all types on the Z-Boat that would enable rapid and detailed sampling of coastal waters faster than using a small dinghy.
