Hydroid

The REMUS vehicle is a compact, light-weight AUV designed for operation in coastal environments up to 100 meters in depth. It can be equipped with a wide variety of sensor packages to suit the needs of many users and is an ideal selection for Rapid Environmental Assessment and Littoral Mine Countermeasures applications.

The REMUS 100-S configuration includes an Inertial Measuring Unit (Honeywell HG9900 IMU with NavP and Payload Processor), Teledyne RDI 1.2 MHz ADCP/DVL, YSI CTD, ECO Puck Triplet sensor, Klein 3500 side scan sonar with bathymetry, video camera with lightbar, Imagenex Pencil Beam Obstacle Avoidance Sonar, Novatel GPS, Acoustic/Wi-Fi/Iridium Communications, strobe light, 1 Gbit Ethernet, NavLab software, Reflection software, LBL navigation transducers, vehicle handles, retrieval rake and a full suite of auxiliary support equipment.

The REMUS 100-S is a proven, reliable system with a track record of high quality and reliability. The system boasts over 10 years of continuous product development and thousands of hours of operations in the field. With over 240 vehicles delivered since 2001, the Kongsberg Hydroid has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to produce AUVs that exceed the needs of their customers.

The REMUS vehicle is designed to be small, lightweight, low-cost, easy to use, and highly accurate in terms of navigational performance and sensor data. It has been optimised for large area, shallow water surveys. The vehicle is monitored and programmed using software that runs on a laptop computer. A simple scripting language is used to program the vehicle for a desired mission. The same program may be used to simulate the mission profile before deployment. Data may be uploaded from the vehicle to this program after mission completion for analysis and display. An automatic HTML report generator creates a quick report with 2-D pseudo-color plots of sensor data collected. The operator interface also includes a navigation window, gauges, control sliders, and other graphical interfaces which make the vehicle easy to program, operate, and troubleshoot.
